Thomas Axelsen has been employed at BDO since August 2028 and works at the Oslo office. He holds a degree in business administration (1995) and a master's in public governance and management (2017).
Thomas has over 10 years of experience as a chief financial officer in the municipal sector and was responsible for financial and business management at the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, Region South, from 2009 to 2018.
At BDO, Thomas primarily works with consulting for Norwegian municipalities and county authorities. He is highly passionate about the municipal sector, which he describes as "the hub of the welfare society." Thomas is particularly focused on ensuring that good planning, management, and leadership are the foundation for the municipalities' service production and resource utilization. His extensive experience in key leadership positions in the public sector has provided a solid foundation for being BDO's project manager in many of BDO's projects in Norwegian municipalities and county authorities. Thomas's project portfolio includes everything from being a project manager and key resource to longer assignments as an outsourced chief financial officer and chief accountant.
His core competencies include in-depth knowledge and insight into municipal financial planning, economic analysis, business management, internal control, and risk management.
